Hi, I’m Curtis Herbert, author and designer of this site. I spend my days as a software developer in the suburbs of Philadelphia. I love to create things; new site designs, complicated Java applications, and even an occasional sci-fi model.
I started out wanting to be an artist when I grew up, but the introduction of a TI-82 into my life changed all that. By the end of the first math class using it I had already programmed it to draw Micky Mouse on the screen. It didn’t take me long to outgrow TI-BASIC and convince my parents to get this new thing called The Internet so I could grow beyond programming for a calculator. It was all downhill from there.
I’ve hopped between application development and web development too many times to count, and learned more programming languages than I care to remember. I find myself more fascinated by programming styles, patterns, and concepts (the art of programming) than any one particular language, despite my proficiency in Java, PHP, and XHTML.
My interests are varied and I always find myself with a long list of things I want to do. I spend my free time going for runs around the neighborhood, gaming (to name a few favorites: StarCraft, Unreal Tournament, Chrono Trigger, Civilization, Diablo, Mario Kart), reading (Sandman, Game of Thrones, Neverwhere, Watchmen), or watching anime. Oh and enjoying music, but really who doesn’t do that? Usually I’m enjoying these activities with my girlfriend fiancée Kiera; an amazing woman who is wonderfully tolerant of my endless side projects.
One day I’d like to go back to Japan for a few weeks, get my pilot’s license, run a marathon, and program for the Mac.
Thanks for stopping by.
