After a long life of heading down the wrong path I have converted Arielle - she has seen the light. Thats right, no longer is she going to hell; she’s converted to Macintosh. I think the cuteness of the iBook is what sold her on it.
We leave for Otakon in less than 8 hours, woo!

I got around to downloading and watching Firefly, that show that was on last year that was supposed to be really good but still got cancelled, kinda like Family Guy. Reminded me a lot of the original pitch for Star Trek (cowboys in space). Well, reminded may be a bit of an understatement; Firefly is cowboys in space. However I was very pleased with the show and I see what all the fuss was about. I’m now looking forward to seeing the movie in 2005.
I’ve begun my +1 dork quest by joining up with a local D&D game. Mike Paul and Craig from work told me about it and said I should come. It is actually a lot of fun, more than I thought it would be. I ordered my avatar for the game and painted it during two Firefly episodes. I think it came out well considering I haven’t done a model in a year or so.
Tuition bill came today, and it was better than I had hoped. I was expecting to pay 2k or so, but it ended up being about 1.2k. Muucch better. Gives me more money to save for when my car breaks down *crosses fingers*.
I got that raise at work I was so worried about so now I’m almost back to what I made when I was at InternetSeer. Kinda depressing but at least my income is improving. I’m sure it helped my case that Josh came into work drunk/hung over on Sunday and had to be sent home early because he wasn’t doing much beyond sleeping and browsing the net.
I guess thats all for the moment time to head out to the game.
One of the things that interested me in the I, Robot movie was the automated control of cars. Of course many of us see this as far off, however it might not be as far was we think. This Web site shows the ability to control the speed of the cars while going through an interesection to avoid any collisions. The most impressive demo they have is six lanes of heavy traffic one. I can’t wait for things like this to be implemented.
Bourne Supremacy was very good, as good as the first if not better. Go see it.
Otakon in one week, wow. I can’t wait!
Apple continues to disprove our (the general geek population) claim that no one would buy the iPod Mini for $250 when the regular iPod is $299 with their iPod Mini release in Japan where 1,500 people were lined up at the Apple Store to get the first ones.
Well the rumor is true, Apple is coming out with a new iPod. I just found an image of what it is supposed to look like on the cover of a Newsweek magazine for next week of all places. Its supposed to have some interface changes, be a bit smaller, and as you can see have the iPod Mini scroll-wheel. I hope it drops in price too. The announcement is going to be on Monday so we’ll have to wait till then to know that. But you saw the new iPod here first!

Like beating a penguin with a bat? Of course you do! YetiSports is back this time with part five - Flamingo drive. Time for Tee-off!
I’m really starting to not like working for the Shitty (well, moreso than before). I keep getting screwed over. Lets recap.
First, I was told I could have hours at the Valley Forge store, which turned out to be a bust at the very last minute - after I had already comitted to moving.
Then, as I have not posted yet, I got screwed over for a full time position. I had been asking for it since I got there and I was told that there were none open at the moment, but I would be the first to get one in the roadshop when one opened up. Then Josh (not sister’s b/f) was hired and he had a full time position. Apparently the store manager wasn’t aware I wanted it, and my manager wasn’t in on that meeting. Well to top this off the guy is frequently late and refuses to do any maintinance around the department - he only sells. This leaves me always cleaning up the department to make it look nice.
So anywho now there is a "senior product specialist" position in each department which means a $1.50 raise. I had been working my ass off, staying late, doing everything I can to be of help and as such I was told I would be the first to know when the position opened up. So much for that - its now a competition of sales per hour for the month of July. Kinda makes sence until you realize that 1) When Josh is late its causes him to not be there to open the store - a time when one cannot sell and 2) I was asked to help out in the install bay in two weeks cause I want more hours and they need help, which will count against my hours. So it doesn’t matter that I’m willing to help out more, stay late more, or that he is unreliable (had his license taken away for underaged drinking), refuses to clean, or is always in the back talking to Justin ... no, its simply a stupid unfair competition.
Dont’ worry though, this post is’t just one big Piro post. Spider-Man 2 was awesome. Go see it! Now! Just like X-Men 2 it set up some nice plots that you don’t see unless you read the comic. There was a lot of good character development too. Overall I’d say it was better than the first.
Oh, and I need more sleep.
