Yet again, the test I just took in BiSci is fearing for its life, hiding in a corner, after the massive smackdown I just gave it. Booya! With that out of the way, its time for a night of coding, yippe.

The Day Hell Froze Over

Today is the day hell freezes over. Why you ask? No, its not because I woke up early, or went to bed early. Today is the day that iTunes came out for Windows. Yes, the second application from apple to run on Windows (quicktime being first). Its nice to be able to listen to all the songs I have been downloading in iTunes on my 5.1 desktop speakers. I have to say, apple did a very impressive job with this app, it looks exactly like the OS X version. Overall I am very happy with it. It looks like I may give up downloading music off kazaa now, since I have a relativly cheap and legal way to get what I want. Software is still another story ;-)

Bowling

So as we all know I am overworked. Well, tonight was a nice break from that. I got back from working 10:00am-9:30pm at CC to get an IM from Mike asking if I wanted to go bowling with Ken and some of his friends. I had a shitload of work to do, but screw it, I need a night to have fun for once. So we get there, and we are told that we would only have 30 minutes to bowl because they had to set up for rock-and-bowl. So we decided to wait around, it was $12 for 3 games if we did, a pretty good deal. So we played arcade games for a good hour then it was time to bowl. Overall I actually did fairly well (this comes as a surprise). I won 2 out of 3 games (yes, Curtis won at bowling), and I even beat my high score. I bowled a 164 the second game, w00t! Yeah, it was a good time, lots of laughs. I gotta do this fun thing more often.

New Version 5.0, Now With Better Spam Controls!

Written at 8PM on Thursday, October 9, 2003

The first day of summber I sat down and told myself that I would rewrite the site in PHP, all from scratch. Why you ask? Well, some of the code has been the same for over two years now, so its a bit, umm, outdated. That and PHP is a much better language that lets me do a lot more with very little effort. All summer I didn’t touch the site, because as we all know I had 20 million other sites to do for everyone BUT me. I came up with a lot of things I wanted to add and change, but kept telling myself I wouldn’t touch the old code, just implement it when I made the new site. I got to college, and I’ve been swamped. But, enough was enough damn it, it was time for me to site down and rewrite this!

And so version 5.0 of Forgotten Expanse is born. Unlike the updates in the past, this was more of a functional update than a visual update (although I did touch a few things up with the old theme). The main things you’ll notice is an overhauled blog/comment system, and the Pictures-R-Us section.

For the non-tech people out there, we can just say that nothing really changed beyond you can make comments to my blogs now, I fixed a few spelling mistakes, and you can look at pictures I took. To the tech people; I moved from ASP to PHP, switched over to a PostgreSQL database (yay no more need for Windows Server), rewrote the XHTML 1.0 transitional to be XHTML 1.1 complient, added a printer stylesheet (go ahead, print any page, I dare you...it now only prints the content, no menus, headers, etc), made the site more accessable for those with text-only browsers, Other features include a revised portfolio section, better archive browsing for blogs, and even went so far as to update some of the content, in fact a lot of it! I also brought back the visual styles section, List ’o Themes. I have 10 themes up there to start. Go ahead, look try em out, I like them a lot.

So go look around, every section has something updated or new in it! Look at the beauty of the printer stylesheet by printing out my resume and giving it to important people ;-). Enjoy!

Well, That Worked Out

Its 4am and I’m still up :-(

Oops

Well, all was meant to go well. I set my alarm this morning for 7am, in the hopes of actually getting up and doing something productive before class. Well that didn’t go as planned; I hit the snooze button way too many times. So, 9:00am roles around and its time to get up for history. Yeah, lol. So I end up sleeping in till 1:00pm, and boy did I need it!

I was getting ready for BiSci at 1:40pm and then Ken IM’ed me and asked if I wanted to run down and grap some food. I figured I had enough time. Well, I didn’t. By the time I was sitting down class was starting. *shrug* eh, too bad. Not like the class is hard. So, I figured hey, I already missed all my morning classes, I should skip networking too (again, not like I really need to show up). This actually worked out well because I had to stop at home to pick up something and get a haircut. Although, I do feel a bit guilty. It’s only my first time skipping classes all semester, so I guess I’m not all that bad?

*sigh*

I’m tired, and I need a haircut...maybe tomorrow?
