Yes, that is how I feel as of late. For some reason, my life has become very very busy within one week’s time. I was contacted about a week ago by a woman who is a friend of Mike Paul’s roomate. She wants some sites done for her. Ok, cool. She wants 3 sites done for her. Ok, cooler. I get all expenses paid to go on 3 trips a year to events and post things on the sites based on the sites...damn cool! The setback? None besides the lack of life I will have in November. However I think its worth it. It comes out to be a $5,200 a year contract for maintaining the sites plus an initial redesign fee. Plus from my understanding this site is a very popular one, so this will be good for business. It seems like working for her will be fun, she seems cool. Haven’t met her yet though, but if she is anything like her email subject lines ("oh baby be the master of my domain"), it should be cool.
On top of the work with Marine.com has resumed. For right now I am just working on scripting and minor updates. However, it looks like once I am done with the 3 sites he wants me to rewrite his site in PHP, to get rid of the God forsaken programming language he uses now, TAME. This will be a fairly large project, but I look forward to it. I need to learn PHP, and this is a good reason to start ;-).
Jess and I are doing very well. I managed to sucker her in to coming down for the day after Thanksgiving and spending some time with my family (my mom’s side). Bwhahahaha. I’m evil, I know ;-). We are having dinner on that friday instead of Thurs...it’s my mom’s idea, that way more people will be able to come (Jess, Josh, Jessica). It will be nice to have her over for Thanksgiving dinner. Turkey and a boo, life can’t get better than that. It’s getting close to our one-year-since-we-met anniversary. We are going to take a nice walk in the park that we first started talking in. I can’t believe it’s already been a year. And by the way, cuddling is still fun ;-).
I went to lunch with my sister today. She went up to Kutztown to visit on of her friends and we meet for lunch/dinner (linner?). She is doing well, and so is Nick. He’s getting big, and blowing lots of bubbles with his saliva. Odd. I found out some interesting things from her though. As we all know, I have not talked to my father since July. I wish he would call me already. It’s always my job to call, never his, ugh. Anyway, apparently he has chosen to move to Florida. Yes, the state about 21 hours away. From what Jess said, he found a job there (or rather got handed one) that pays very, very, well doing work with pools and artificial ponds, etc. Along with that, apparently he met someone. Yes, "met". From what Jess said she is a 37 year old retired attorney that made a gazillion dollars in like 15 years and now lives in Florida. I don’t have any details on how they met or anything, and at the rate that my dad calls me (never) I don’t know when I will find out. I have to say, I may still be bitter at him, but I am happy that he has found someone. No offense to him, be he has basiclly been mopping around for over 4 years now. It’s nice that he found someone, and a job, and is happy (I assume, since he is moving down there). I just hope he doesn’t forget about his past...and his son :-(.
I would like to take a moment to morn the tragic loss of a very important Web site. At 10:10am today (EST) I was horrified to discover that one of my favorite Web sites, Neowin, was officialy dead, and for good this time. No longer will I be able to waste endless hours going throught he forums and looking at other people’s desktops. You will be missed neowin!
I got this sent to me over IM and figured it was noteworthy:
The average blue whale produces over 400 gallons of sperm when it ejaculates, but only 10% of that actually makes it into his mate. So 360 gallons are spilled into the ocean everytime one unloads, and you wonder why the ocean is so salty.
Yes, ewww.
Ok, so the project I am working on is taking a lot longer than I expected. What can I say, I don’t have the time to do it? I say that with good reason though. I’ve spent the past few weeks beating WarCraft 3. Once I was done that I finished Shadow Puppets - the newset book in the Ender’s Game series. The book was just as good as the first 6. I am looking forward to the 8th book, and yes, there will be an 8th. I also got my hands on Unreal Tournament 2003. Can we say beautiful? The grass...its so....real! And bombing run kicks major ass!!! Now, the shocker, I actually bought it. Thats right, my first legal software in over 4 years. My reason? A) It kicks ass and B) CD 3 is a linux install cd...and any game that comes with linux support deserves the money. So, I should be kept busy for a while with UT2K3.
Work is going very well. I seem to have gotten the hang of everything in only 2 weeks. Also, I got my tech certification there in 3 weeks. All that means is that I am now cert. to sell computer, but its still a good thing to have. The days are sometimes long when no one is in the store, but for the most part it isn’t too bad.
School on the other hand is getting annoying. IST 230 (descrete math) is a bitch. The teacher really doesn’t know what he is doing with the class. He is a smart man who knows his stuff, but he can’t teach a class. We are all very confused as to what he wants us to do for the end project - he can’t seem to give a clear answer. And, starting this week, my classes now start at 11 instead of 12 because of bowling. This means I have classes for about 6 hours on tues and thurs. Its like highschool all over again. Ugh.
Anyway, I did make one change to the site. I added the My Computer section just for those people who really want to know my specs and/or see my desktop. I hope I will get my main project done soon. Its about 50% done.
